March Moms in Rhode Island, caption below.
The March Moms is a group of women who met online in the summer of 1996. When we met, we had one thing in common - we were all expecting a baby in March of 1997. We started an e-mail loop to help us support each other through our pregnancies, and we've been together ever since. We started out discussing things like morning sickness, weight gain and potential baby names then cheered each other on as, one after another, we delivered our babies. We've laughed, we've cried, and we've argued, but most of all we've been there for each other. Through thick and thin, we've stayed in touch almost daily and have formed friendships that criss cross the states and have overcome the usual limitations of long-distance relationships. As our babies have grown into toddlers, we're now swapping stories of their daily adventures, asking and giving advice on potty training, and sharing lots of photos with each other.
When our babies were just over a year old, many of us travelled to Rhode Island to meet face to face. It was an exciting weekend of sharing, bragging and picture-taking. We are currently planning our next reunion, to be held in San Antonio, Texas in February, 2001.
